Our engagement in Latin America and the Caribbean seeks to strengthen citizen security and contribute to a democratic, just and violence-free society. Our approach addresses regional security sector governance issues in cooperation with governments, parliaments, security providers, intergovernmental organizations and civil society. We promote the application of good governance principles to address institutional weakness and develop effective, efficient and transparent security and justice institutions that are properly overseen by the executive and legislative authorities, and fully accountable to the people they serve.
DCAF’s work in the Latin America and the Caribbean region is attuned to the Sustainable Development Goals of Gender Equality (SDG 5), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16).
Contributing to a democratic, just, and violence free society.
