DCAF accompanies security sector institutions and provides technical support to evaluate gender conditions within the institutions and carry out actions aimed at changing values and practices towards gender equity. One of the most successful tools that has been implemented in Honduras within the framework of the Citizen Security Program financed by SDC is the DCAF Gender Self-Assessment. In this video, active members of the Honduran Police who accompanied this process and the Head of the DCAF Latin America and the Caribbean Unit for reflect on this process, its advantages and opportunities.
If there are actions aimed at gender equality on the part of the security institutions, the legitimacy of the communities increases and the working conditions of men and women in the police improve.
