In Liberia, the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB)was set up in 2009 to provide an independent mechanism through which citizens could file complaints against the police regarding misconduct, abuse, or human rights violations, helping to ensure transparency and accountability within the Liberian National Police (LNP).
Through investigations and resolution of complaints, public awareness and advocacy campaigns, and by recommending disciplinary actions and advocating for police reforms and improvements in law enforcement practices, the CCRB has made a significant contribution towards strengthening Liberia's democratic institutions, ensuring the protection of human rights, and enhancing the accountability of the police force.
