Description

This research brings together government and non-government actors, as well as researchers from various disciplines, to address the pressing issue of radicalization while emphasizing the role that women and youth can play in preventing violent extremism.

Traditionally viewed as victims of radicalization or as individuals vulnerable to indoctrination, women and youth have often been sidelined in discussions about radicalization, which overlooks their evolving roles and the crucial gender dimensions involved.

The relevance of this research, particularly in the context of Tunisia, lies in recognizing the valuable insights of women and youth, whose experiences within their communities provide essential perspectives that can significantly enhance the development of effective prevention strategies.

This transition from a victim-centered view to one that embraces women's active contributions is essential for developing comprehensive and effective responses to the challenges of violent extremism and for identifying early signs of radicalization.

The role of women has changed in the strategy of jihadist  organisations, and logically it will also have to change  in the strategies of states and societies to encounter and prevent violent extremism.
