The CECORE facilitates community engagement and discussions on SDG 16+ in Uganda

In Uganda, the Centre for Conflict Resolution (CECORE) has supported the localization of SDG 16+ by facilitating context-specific engagement among community members and their leaders, local governments, and security actors, including through so-called "talking circles", Barazas, and other fora, such as at markets, church services, and cultural celebrations.

In the Kaabong District, these efforts have led to collaborations between communities and security organs, and the joint delivery of activities to sensitize local populations to SDG 16+ and related peace and security issues. According to the beneficiaries, this has contributed to several SDG targets, including SDG 16.1 on reducing violence and 16.3 on access to justice, by providing community members with the confidence to report crimes and violence to local authorities.
