The APCOF develops tool to promote civil society engagement in SDG 16 monitoring, reporting, and implementation in South Africa

In South Africa, the African Policing Oversight Forum (APCOF) has promoted community-based and grassroots engagement in SDG 16 monitoring, reporting, and implementation.

As part of a UNDP project to develop an inclusive and participatory methodology to strengthen the role of civil society in the oversight of SDG 16 implementation, the APCOF developed an accessibility tool for civil society organizations (CSOs). The CSO Tool is intended to empower communities to play an active monitoring and reporting role vis--vis SDG 16, to ensure that progress is measured in an inclusive way and accounts for the needs and priorities of all South Africans.
