Ombudsperson discusses complaints on weekly national television broadcast in Austria

In Austria, the Ombudsman Board (AOB) hosts weekly discussions on public television to discuss complaints it has received regarding maladministration, including some relating to the security sector.

Since 1979, the AOB has hosted this weekly broadcast, known as Bürgeranwalt, during which recent cases are discussed in the presence of the Ombudsperson, a complainant, and sometimes, representatives of the relevant authority. This innovative practice offers the Ombudsperson the opportunity to present the work of the AOB and elaborate on its mandate and approach.
