Ombudsperson publishes a guide on complaints mechanisms and remedies in Niger

In Niger, the MÈdiateur de la RÈpublique (Ombudsperson) has published a guide on complaints mechanisms and remedies related to abuses or misconduct by the police, the gendarmerie, the national guard, and the armed forces.

This is part of efforts to prevent abuses by security actors, which can include insults, bullying, threats, extortion, sexual abuse, harassment, or physical assault. The guide, developed with support from DCAF, lays out in detail who can complain, where, and how, and represents a concrete step forward in advancing SDG 16 targets, by increasing access to justice (16.3) and contributing to the development of effective and accountable institutions (16.6).
