On the 12th and 13th of October 2011 a workshop was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, to discuss the âMontreux Document on Pertinent International Legal Obligations and Good Practices for States related to Operations of Private Military and Security Companies during Armed Conflictâ and its relevance for the North East and Central Asia region. The workshop was convened by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the President of Mongolia and the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in coâoperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and in collaboration with DCAF and the Institute for Strategic Studies. The event included the participation of 50 representatives of governments, international organisations and experts from nine countries in North East and Central Asia. These proceedings were prepared by the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces at the request of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
