The Practice Guide on Domestic Violence was developed to compliment a prior publication in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the Domestic Violence Benchbook, and is intended to deepen judicial understanding of the complexity of domestic violence. The Practice Guide refers to current research, addresses common misconceptions, provides recommendations on domestic violence from courts in other contexts and undertakes an analysis of BiH domestic violence criminal cases.

The Practice Guide was developed in collaboration with thirty-seven judges from across BiH who dedicated their expertise to the process of identifying, reviewing and revising content for this resource. While the Practice Guide was developed by judges in BiH, the contents are appropriate and timely for contexts across the world.
