Security assistance in the Middle East: challenges and the need for change

Join us for the launch of the new book of Hicham Alaoui and Robert Springborg : "Security assistance in the Middle East:  challenges and the need for change".

Security assistance by the United States and Europe into the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region has yielded limited successes in the past two decades. Present-day prospects for security sector reform in the region are affected by these dynamics, which merit unpacking.

Tackling these important topics, the authors of this state-of-the-art assessment evaluate the costs and benefits to the main providers and recipients of security assistance in the MENA region and explore alternative strategies to improve outcomes for both.
