This short course helps participants understand the connections between environment and SSG/R.

The course will go into the roles that security sector actors play in mitigating environmental threats, how governance fits into this, and why the environment matters for SSG/R to begin with. It goes into topics such as environmental crime, natural disasters and climate change, the environmental footprint of the security sector, and several specific focus and cross-cutting themes.

If you compare the estimated carbon emissions of the world's militaries to countries, only China, the USA, and India would have higher emissions.
