Stop “fixing” Women: Why Institutional Transformation Is Key to Women’s Participation in Peace Operations

This event is over. Watch the recording to discover what works and where to start to achieve success.

To achieve women’s full participation in peacekeeping, large-scale transformation is needed within police, gendarmerie and armed forces at the national level. Success requires transformative shifts in personnel’s individual attitudes toward gender roles, and in gendered group dynamics.

Instead of striving to “fix the women”, security sector institutions ought to hold a mirror up to their institutional culture, involving all personnel.
