The implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda is closely linked to transformative reforms in the security sector, based on key principles of good governance to guide the provision and management of security.
Drawing on the approaches and strategies outlined in the DCAF/OSCE-ODIHR/UN Women Gender and Security Toolkit, the webinar covered the state of affairs of implementation of the WPS Agenda from a security sector governance lens.
In particular, discussions addressed the following questions:
1. What are key aspects of effective SSG within the security sector to help achieve the goals of the WPS in real terms?
2. What are the outstanding challenges from an SSG lens that prevent progress in the implementation of the Agenda?
3. How can the oversight of the security sector successfully monitor and hold security sector to account for the implementation of the WPS and achieving gender equality?
4. What are the successful examples of security sector institutions closely cooperating with civil society organizations to strengthen their transparency for WPS and gender equality?
