The DCAF Border Security Programme in the Western Balkans was established to promote regional stability and support cooperation focused on prosperous EU integration. Over 20 years the Programme has provided targeted and flexible response to acute security threats, from specialised field trainings to joint police operations.

On the 20 and 21 April 2022, DCAF Border Security Programme organized the Heads of Border Police Services in the WB Region meeting to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the programme. It was the opportunity to discuss the progress achieved in the Region following the turmoil period of the 90s, highlight success stories and good practices, promote the activities of the programme, address the current challenges related to Border Security and regional cross-border police cooperation, as well as future challenges and opportunities.

In addition to the Programme Beneficiaries, representatives of Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Slovenia, PCC SEE Secretariat, Frontex, Europol, Joint Coordination Platform, CEPOL, Interpol, SELEC, MARRI RC, OSCE Mission to Skopje, GIZ, and the Police attaché of Switzerland attended the meeting.
