From 3 to 5 March, DCAF will be hosting a high-level online conference on cybersecurity resilience and capacity building in the Western Balkans.
The conference will gather key cybersecurity policymakers in the Western Balkans, the institutions in charge of cybersecurity incident response and prevention (most notably, the national and governmental Computer Security Incident Response Teams, CSIRTs), representatives of EU institutions, international and regional organisations, experts, academics, and private sector representatives.
A high-level panel will gather the Ministers or State Secretaries from all Western Balkans economies’ ministries in charge of cybersecurity governance. It will be opened by the United Kingdom’s Minister for European Neighbourhood and the Americas, Ms Wendy Morton, and chaired by the Slovenian Minister of Public Administration, Mr Boštjan Koritnik.
Ensuring effective cybersecurity remains highly relevant for the region, particularly in light of the increasing digitalisation. Safe cyberspace is, in these circumstances more than ever, a precondition for region’s economic development and the delivery of government services.
The purpose of the conference is to present the achievements of Western Balkan economies in enhancing their cybersecurity governance during the period when the regional DCAF project was implemented (2018-2021), to discuss the challenges and opportunities in this field for the time ahead and best ways those can be addressed with EU, UK and other donors’ support.
The conference is supported by the Slovenian government and United Kingdom government and will be organised within the DCAF project, ‘Enhancing Cybersecurity Governance in the Western Balkans’ (2018-2021), which is funded by the United Kingdom Government Foreign and Commonwealth Development Organisation.
The working language of the conference is English, however interpretation into Albanian, Bosnian, Macedonian, Montenegrin, Slovenian and Serbian will be provided on the first day for the high-level panel.
