Regional parliamentary dialogue in South East Europe Earlier this month, The Annual Meeting of Representatives of Defence and Security Committees from South East Europe Parliaments was held in Zagreb. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices in parliamentary oversight of the defence and security sector, while addressing current security challenges. DCAF has long supported regional parliamentary dialogue in South East Europe, which now stands as a region with highly developed normative and institutional frameworks for democratic governance. 15 Jun 2026

    Earlier this month, The Annual Meeting of Representatives of Defence and Security Committees from South East Europe Parliaments was held in Zagreb. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices in parliamentary oversight of the defence and security sector, while addressing current security challenges. DCAF has long supported regional parliamentary dialogue in South East Europe, which now stands as a region with highly developed normative and institutional frameworks for democratic governance.

Meeting with H.E. President of the Republic of Lebanon DCAF Director, Ambassador Nathalie Chuard, was honoured to meet with H.E. President of the Republic of Lebanon, Mr. Joseph Aoun. She expressed DCAF’s continued support to the Lebanese people and highlighted the organization’s ongoing cooperation, especially with Lebanese security institutions. The President reiterated his support for our programme in Lebanon and encouraged the continuation of ongoing efforts in support of the country’s institutions. We extend our sincere appreciation to the President and his team for the constructive exchange. 09 Jun 2026

Security sector reforms in the Republic of North Macedonia We successfully concluded the high-level conference on intelligence and security sector reforms in the Republic of North Macedonia. Key stakeholders, including judges, public prosecutors, institutional leaders and international partners, came together to discuss systemic challenges, institutional coordination and the impact of modern technologies on investigative tools. The conference also saw the official launch of the publication "Analysis of the Application of Special Investigative Measures in the Republic of North Macedonia". 27 May 2026

Challenges of peacebuilding in Colombia Together with Fight for Humanity, the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform and the City of Geneva, DCAF hosted a panel discussion focused on the challenges of peacebuilding in Colombia and the importance of locally led reconciliation initiatives. One of the key lessons that emerged from the exchange was that sustainable peacebuilding requires inclusive and community-centered approaches in which women are recognized, not only as beneficiaries of protection, but also as active agents of peace and security. 22 May 2026
