Assessing gender-responsive budgeting in Ghana DCAF has successfully completed the first scoping mission for our new project on operationalizing Women, Peace and Security in defence institutions through gender-responsive budgeting. During a week of consultations in Ghana, the Gender and Security team met with representatives of the Ghana Armed Forces, government ministries, parliament, CSOs, academia, and international partners to discuss the current state of gender-responsive budgeting and identify opportunities for strengthening its institutionalization within the defence sector. 16 Jul 2026

Germany renews support to key DCAF programmes Germany and DCAF signed two agreements renewing support for DCAF’s work on security sector governance in North Africa, as well as ombuds institutions for armed forces. Germany’s contribution to the North Africa Trust Fund will continue to advance work that strengthens people-centred security in Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia, while addressing regional challenges. The renewed partnership also strengthens efforts to enhance oversight and accountability in the armed forces through peer exchange, capacity-building and policy-oriented research. 13 Jul 2026

    Germany and DCAF signed two agreements renewing support for DCAF’s work on security sector governance in North Africa, as well as ombuds institutions for armed forces. DCAF convenes 8th cybersecurity legislation seminar For the 8th consecutive time, DCAF organized the Seminar on Cybersecurity Legislation in Athens to discuss the latest developments in the field, including updates to the Cybersecurity Act and the Digital Omnibus initiative. European experts and representatives from the Western Balkans exchanged views on policy implementation and shared national experiences. The seminar highlighted the growing complexity of cybersecurity and its legislation, which continues to evolve rapidly and generate new challenges and opportunities. 10 Jul 2026

DCAF and GICHD establish regional hub in Amman DCAF and the GICHD have signed an agreement with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s  Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates to establish a joint regional office in Amman. Complementing DCAF existing offices in Ramallah and Beirut, the new hub will help strengthen our engagement across the MENA region, including in Palestine, Syria and Yemen. We look forward to deepening our cooperation with national authorities, regional partners and local communities, to advance effective, accountable and responsive security in the region. 06 Jul 2026

DCAF 52nd Foundation Council meeting DCAF held its 52nd Foundation Council meeting alongside 20 of its members. They voiced strong appreciation for DCAF's work, especially our continued focus on human security, transparency, accountability, as well as the protection of conflict-affected populations. These sentiments are also echoed in the positive findings of DCAF’s evaluation commissioned by the Swiss government. It recognized DCAF's strong convening power, the successful delivery of its organizational reform, and its significant role in norm-setting.   03 Jul 2026
