Marc Remillard is a Programme Manager in the Operations Department. His focus is governance and accountability of the security and intelligence sector in Southeast Europe. He currently manages a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, multi-donor funded programme and team focused on strengthening intelligence sector governance and accountability in the Republic of Macedonia. In 2002 Marc helped create DCAF’s first operational division, which he managed until mid-2004.
Before joining DCAF Marc was a Senior Politico-Military Advisor at the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, seconded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. At the OSCE he provided policy advice and developed programming on security sector oversight and on reintegrating and retraining demobilized military personnel. Prior to that, Marc spent a year at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly as a Research Fellow.
Before university he spent three years in the US Army as a Forward Observer, serving in the 2nd Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea and in the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division at Fort Campbell Kentucky. Marc holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master's in Public Affairs from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was born and raised in Denmark, which is his permanent place of residence.
