The Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) is dedicated to improving the security of states and their people within a framework of democratic governance, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. DCAF contributes to making peace and development more sustainable by assisting partner states and international actors supporting these states, to improve the governance of their security sector through inclusive and participatory reforms. It creates innovative knowledge products, promotes norms and good practices, provides legal and policy advice and supports capacity‐building of both state and non‐state security sector stakeholders.

For our Human Resources Unit, we are looking for a dynamic and motivated team player to be our next:

HR Assistant (80 %)

Location:                            Geneva

Starting date:                   1 April 2019 or as soon as possible

Duration:                             6 months, renewable

The role

Reporting to the Head of HR, the HR Assistant’s main duties and responsibilities will be to:

  • Welcome new employees and be in the charge of the on-boarding administration
  • Complete the administrative steps of the employee life cycle, including off-boarding
  • Draft employment contracts, addendums and work attestations
  • Handle work permits requests, renewals and follow-up
  • Fill in insurance claims (accident, sickness and maternity)
  • Affiliation to the Swiss social systems (AVS, LPP, etc)
  • Draft work certificates
  • Assist in the recruitment process (posting of job vacancies, setting up interviews, etc.)
  • Replace the Payroll Officer in case of absence

Your experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience as HR Assistant
  • Swiss certificate for HR Assistant a strong plus
  • Experience in salary processing a plus
  • Excellent English and French (both written and spoken)
  • Experience in national or international public sector organizations an asset
  • Service-oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Attention to detail and rigorous
  • Strong team-player
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Swiss or EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland at the time of application is a pre-requisite
