Closed Consultation Meeting & High-Level Event
The DCAF Asylum, Migration and Counter-Trafficking in Human Beings Programme (AMCTHB) is proud to execute a two-component project consisting of a Closed Consultation Meeting on National Referral Mechanisms (NRMs) of human trafficking victims and a High-Level Event aimed at tackling current challenges and future trends of human trafficking for forced labour among migration routes.
The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) together with the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) and the OSCE Office of the Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings (OSR/CTHB) will fund the project.
The International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) are co-organizers of the project.
The project will be promoted via Twitter – @dcaf_amcthb and the hashtag #DCAF4VoT (DCAF for Victims of Trafficking).
SUPPORT TO CLOSED CONSULTATION MEETING
AMCTHB will support the OSCE endeavour to update the 2004 OSCE/ODIHR National Referral Mechanisms (NRMs) Handbook by hosting and handling logistics on a Chatham House Rule-based Close Consultation Meeting at Geneva, Maison de la paix on 23–24 November. The meeting will bring together human trafficking victim support NGOs around the OSCE region and relevant international organizations to confidently discuss challenges and future trends of the identification, assistance and referral of victims of trafficking.
AMCTHB will co-organize an invitation-only High-Level Event at Geneva, Maison de la paix on 25 November 2016. The objective of this meeting is to develop new creative responses, such as policy recommendations, that effectively address trafficking for forced labour along migration routes on all levels (e.g. field, HQ, policy-making, private industry, coordination, think tank).
The event will bring together relevant international actors, such as Permanent Missions to the UN Office in Geneva, international organizations, NGOs, think tanks and private businesses, and provide a platform to share information on best practices, future needs and lessons learned.
